tangerine Montessori is visionary delight boasting eye-popping colorful décor and furniture that captivates your attention from the moment you step foot in the door. The center encourages children to generate their own ideas, and quench their imagination and originality in a dynamic learning environment.

Marie Tapia conceptualized tangerine after the birth of her daughter, Olivia. Her goal was to create a beautiful, clean and fun oasis where families could interact with other families and children could learn in a save environment. "Along with the support of my architect husband, we envisioned creating a modern space where children could thrive".

About the owner

As the proud owner and director of tangerine Montessori, Marie Tapia is providing local Miami families with a new way to enjoy creativity, fun, learning and exploring in the MiMo District.

Originally a native of Walhorne, Belgium, Marie's passion for teaching evolved at the early age of seventeen. It was after working at a community center with underprivileged families and children that she began to realize her calling in life was to educate others. After relocating to Chile, she attended Universidad Andres Bello where she received a degree in Education Psychology, followed by a degree in Speech Pathology from Universidad International SEK.

In 2006, Marie moved to Miami and attended the Montessori Training Institute and received her Montessori certified teaching certificate. After graduation, Marie taught for six years at a local Miami Beach Montessori School as a Pre-K, kindergarten, first, second and third Grade teacher. During those years, she was twice awarded Teacher of the Year

Upon becoming a first-time mother over five years ago, she was inspired to create a special environment for her daughter to flourish, while also creating a space where families could interact with other families. As a result she began conceptualizing a venue that combined her devotion to teaching and creativity. Thus, the concept of tangerine was born and her dreams soon became a reality.

Tapia is also certified in Baby Sign Language by My Smart Hands and a Kindermusik teacher. She is also fluent in English, French, German and Spanish.

In her free time, Marie enjoys quality time with her family, reading, listening to music and spending time in nature.
